Mid-Trimester Amniotic Fluid High Sensitive C-Reactive Protein Level in the Prediction of Preterm Delivery

چکیده
Background and Objectives: Preterm labor is a serious problem in obstetrics, accounting for 70% of perinatal mortality. High sensitive C reactive protein (HS-CRP) is a sensitive marker of Inflammation. Our aim in this study was to determine Amniotic fluid hs-CRP concentration and its correlation with pre-Term delivery. Materials and methods: This prospective study was conducted on 90 pregnant women who underwent genetic amniocentesis between the 15th and 20th weeks of gestation. All patients were followed until delivery. Pateints with abnormal karyotype and iatrogenic preterm delivery for fetal and maternal indications were excluded. The samples were carried immediately to the laboratory of Imam Khomaini Hospital Complex, Tehran, Iran for cytogenetic examination and tested for HSCRP by turbidimetric method. Non parametric tests and receiver-operating characteristics curve analysis were used for statistical purpose. Results: The study showed no correlation between amniotic fluid HS-CRP concentrations with preterm delivery. Maternal serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels were higher in patients delivered preterm compared with term deliveries (P=0.036). Conclusion: Our results implicated that HS-CRP like other acute phase response markers was not as a possible risk marker of preterm delivery.

متن کاملProteomic Analysis of Early Mid-Trimester Amniotic Fluid Does Not Predict Spontaneous Preterm Delivery
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to identify early proteomic biomarkers of spontaneous preterm delivery (PTD) in mid-trimester amniotic fluid from asymptomatic women. METHODS This is a case-cohort study. Amniotic fluid from mid-trimester genetic amniocentesis (14-19 weeks of gestation) was collected from 2008 to 2011. The analysis was conducted in 24 healthy women with subsequent spontaneo...

Background and Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the level of plasma high sensitive c-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in preeclampsia and to compare hs-CRP levels between normal pregnant women, mild preeclamptic, and severe preeclamptic women. Materials and Methods: Serum hs-CRP levels were inv...

The presence of free-floating hyperechogenic material within the amniotic fluid in close proximity to the uterine cervix (Figures 1 (cover) and 2 and Videoclips S1 and S2) has been described previously in women with an episode of preterm labor1, in women with a history of preterm delivery or threatened preterm labor2, and in asymptomatic women at risk for spontaneous preterm delivery in the mid...
متن کاملApplying Maternal Serum and Amniotic Fluid CRP Concentrations, and Cervical Length to Predict Preterm Delivery
OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical advantage of several prognostic factors for predicting preterm delivery. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty and six patients with a singleton pregnancy admitted to Vali-Asr hospital underwent genetic amniocentesis between the 15th and 23th weeks were included in this study. Maternal serum C-reactive protein (CRP), transvaginal sonographic measurement of cervica...
